How to Take Care of Damaged Hair

Colour and hot tools taking their toll on your precious locks? Here at AllHair.ie, we understand wanting styled and colour-treated hair. It can, however, make your hair more susceptible to damage, leading to brittle, weak strands. your hair is damaged, there are several things you can do to help repair and restore it. Read on for our top tips for healthy, luscious locks...

  1. Use a gentle shampoo and conditioner. We recommend avoiding using products that contain sulphates and other harsh ingredients, as these can strip your hair of its natural oils and make it more prone to damage. Try the Alfaparf Semi Di Lino Reconstruction Reparative Low Shampoo 250ml or OLAPLEX No. 3 Hair Perfector 100ml for a gentle cleanse.
  2. If you must use a hair dryer, flat iron, or curling iron, make sure to use a heat protectant spray to help prevent damage, like the Moroccanoil Perfect Defense 225ml
  3. Invest in a good conditioning mask. Deep conditioning treatments can help to nourish and repair damaged hair. Look for one that contains ingredients like protein, keratin, and/or essential oils. We recommend the Alfaparf Semi Di Lino Reconstruction Reparative Mask 200ml, which increases the hair's resistance to breakage when used regularly. It contains Bamboo Marrow, rich in Silica, which adds strength and elasticity. It also contains Linseed Extract, a powerful source of fatty acids, to smooth the hair fibre for added shine, and a Nutri-Sugars Complex to optimise hydration within the hair shaft.
  4. Keep colouring to a minimum. Remember, you should aim to wait at least 6 weeks in between colouring visits to minimise potential damage to your hair.
  5. Get your hair trimmed regularly to avoid straggly and split ends. We recommend every 8-12 weeks.
  6. When your hair is wet, comb it, don't brush it. Your hair is weakest when wet, and brushing can cause damage and pull the hair out, unless, of course, you use the specially designed Wet Brush Pro Original Detangling Brush!

Overall, the key to taking care of damaged hair is to be gentle with it and to use products that will help to nourish and repair it. With the right care, your hair can be restored to its healthy, beautiful state.
