How to Curl Your Hair With A Straightener

Want party perfect curls? Here at AllHair.ie, we're here to show you how to create everything from relaxed, beachy waves to Hollywood curls with our handy how-to guide on curling your hair with a straightener!

First, make sure your hair is clean and dry. If your hair is freshly washed, you may want to wait a few hours or blow dry it before starting. Divide your hair into sections. The size of the sections will depend on the thickness and length of your hair, but a good rule of thumb is to divide your hair into 2-inch sections.

Take one section of hair and place the straightener at the base, near your scalp. We recommend the Lóreal Steampod V3 White With Free Paddle BrushSlowly glide the straightener down the length of your hair in 1-5cm sections and gently turn the straightener as you go to create a curl. Repeat this process on all sections of your hair until you have the desired amount of curl.

Once you have finished curling your hair, you can use your fingers or a brush to style and shape the curls. You can also use hair spray or other styling products to help your curls hold their shape. We recommend a firm favourite, the Alfaparf Style Stories Original Hairspray, which will hold your style without stiffening the hair, as well as adding shine and gloss.

It's important to remember that using a straightener can damage your hair, so it's best to use a heat protectant spray such as the Joico Defy Damage Protective Shield 50ml before starting and to not use the straightener too often. It's also a good idea to use a lower heat setting and to avoid using the straightener on wet or damp hair.
